Layouts & shortcuts

Draggable windows, splits, grid, zoom and every keyboard shortcut.

Windows, splits and grid

  • Windows: every session runs in its own pane, a window with a title bar.⌘T (or New session) opens the agent picker, and the agent starts in a new pane where there's most room (or in the focused pane, if it's empty). The sidebar lists the project's sessions so you can jump to any of them.
  • Drag to rearrange: drag a pane by its title bar and drop it on the edge of another pane to dock it there, on its middle to swap the two, or on an edge of the whole area to make it span the full width or height. Esc cancels.
  • Splits: split the active pane right (⌘D) or down (⇧⌘D), or use the buttons in a pane's header. Drag the gap between panes to resize; double-click it to even them out.
  • Grid: ⇧⌘G arranges the panes into a balanced grid (at least 2×2).
  • Zoom: ⇧⌘↩ shows one pane full size; press again to go back.

⌘K opens the command menu: every command, project and open session, searchable by name, with its shortcut alongside.

Shortcuts work even while a terminal has focus; they are never sent to the agent.

In the terminal

  • Find: ⌘F searches the focused pane's output and scrollback. ↩ and ⇧↩ step through the matches, Aa matches case, and Esc closes the bar.
  • Text size: ⌘= and ⌘- make the terminal text bigger or smaller (9 to 28 pt) in every pane, and ⌘0 goes back to the size set in Settings → Terminal. The size is remembered.
  • Clear: ⇧⌘K clears the focused terminal.

One prompt, several sessions

⇧⌘P (or the send button in the project header) types one prompt into several sessions at once, for example to give Claude Code, Codex and Gemini the same task and compare what they do. Pick the sessions, write the prompt and press ⌘↩. Agents are picked to start with; shells are not, since they would run the prompt as a command. Turn off Press Return for me to only paste it, so you can review each one first. Sending one prompt to several sessions is part of CodeHerd Pro.

Agents working on the same task in the same folder edit the same files. Start each one in its own git worktree to keep them apart; CodeHerd warns you when the sessions you picked share a folder.
