CodeHerd

Agents

Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Muse Code, your shell and custom commands.

An agent is anything CodeHerd can run in a pane. CodeHerd looks for each CLI on your login-shell PATH, the same one your terminal uses, and shows its version in Settings → Agents.

Each agent is a separate product, made by its own developer and used under its own terms. CodeHerd runs the copy you installed, unchanged; it never signs in for you or touches your credentials, so your plan and billing stay between you and the agent's maker.

Shell

Your login shell (zsh by default) with your usual configuration. Always available, for anything that isn't an agent.

Custom commands

Add any command line in Settings → Agents → Custom commands, or straight from the Start a session picker: aider --model sonnet, goose session, npm run dev. Custom commands run through your login shell, so pipes, quotes and environment variables work.

After installing a CLI

Press Re-detect in Settings → Agents. CodeHerd re-reads your login shell first, so new PATH entries an installer added to ~/.zshrc are picked up without restarting.
