Last updated: draft, not yet in effect.
1. The software
CodeHerd is a desktop application that launches command-line tools installed on your computer, including third-party AI coding agents. It comes in two plans: Free, which runs up to 3 sessions at once, and CodeHerd Pro, a paid subscription that adds more (see Pricing). Both are the same download.
2. CodeHerd Pro
- Who you buy from. Pro is sold through Polar Software, Inc., our reseller and merchant of record. Polar takes the payment and handles billing, tax and invoices under its Buyer Terms. Your right to use CodeHerd and Pro is licensed to you by us, under these terms.
- Prices. Pro costs £10 a month or £96 a year, in pounds sterling. UK prices include VAT; checkout shows the tax that applies where you are before you pay.
- Free trial. Every Mac CodeHerd is installed on gets 14 days of Pro, with no card and no account. When it ends, CodeHerd carries on as Free.
- Your licence key. After you pay, Polar emails you a licence key. It is for you to use, on up to 3 Macs at a time; deactivate it on a Mac to move it to another. Don't share, sell or publish your key.
- Renewal and cancelling. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. Cancel any time in Polar's customer portal (Settings → Licence → Manage in CodeHerd). Pro keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds. If you ask within 14 days of any payment, first or renewal, we'll refund it in full, no questions asked. Email support@codeherd.app with the email you bought with. A refunded subscription ends straight away. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.
- When Pro ends. If your subscription ends, is refunded, or a renewal can't be charged within 7 days, CodeHerd goes back to Free. Your projects, sessions and settings are kept, and sessions already running are never stopped.
- Licence checks. CodeHerd checks your licence with Polar when you activate it and about once a day after that, sending only the key and your Mac's name (see Privacy). It keeps working offline for 7 days after the last check.
- Price changes. We may change prices for new subscriptions. If we change the price of yours, we'll email you before it applies to a renewal, and you can cancel before then.
3. Third-party agents and subscriptions
CodeHerd does not provide, resell or include any AI service. Agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI are separate products governed by their own terms; you are responsible for having the right to use them and for any charges their providers bill you.
4. Your code and your machine
Agents you run in CodeHerd can read and change files and run commands in the folders you open, just as they can in any terminal. Review what agents do, use version control, and keep backups. CodeHerd's git worktree feature helps isolate agents but is not a substitute for backups.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use CodeHerd to break the law or to violate the terms of the services you connect to, and don't work around its licence checks.
6. No warranty
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data or code, arising from your use of CodeHerd or of any agent run inside it.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on this site and in the changelog.
